Objective

Under the supervision of the Accounting Lead, the Accounting Administrator is responsible for helping with tax reporting and Surplus Lines tax payment, reconciliations, and reporting.  This role is not limited to the below description. Success in this role will require a mixture of critical thinking, deep customer focus, and accuracy.

Essential Functions

  • Timely and accurately complete state regulatory surplus lines tax filings, reports, and payments
  • Review, identify, and implement controls and accounting processes for efficiency gains
  • Resolve existing credits and refunds for clients in Surplus Lines
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of training and reference materials including developing and refining SOPs
  • Provide excellent customer service by building and maintaining positive relationships with states, clients, and employees
  • Stay up to date on state trust laws and other accounting compliance regulations
  • Compile and prepare reports and summaries for clients as applicable
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • An associate degree in accounting or comparable experience preferred
  • Previous experience of Surplus Lines and/or insurance industry preferred
  • Knowledge of general accounting functions and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe, with knowledge of Excel
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume position, deliver timely and accurate work products with a customer service focus, and respond with a sense of urgency as required
  • Previous experience with NetSuite or similar accounting software preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Self-motivated with the ability to problem solve while meeting deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication and ability to collaborate with team members
